Another gunfire shooting happened in Roxbury last Wednesday for a second night straight, Boston Globe reported.
Two people were shot at Marvin Street and Shawmut Avenue near the Dudley Square MBTA station. The victims were found in the station then brought to Boston Medical Center to be treated for their non-life threatening injuries, police said. Police investigated Dudley Station for less than an hour then reopened the station around 10 p.m.
Later that night, the police responded to another gunfire reported near 8 Albion St.
The police placed numerous markers at the scene, and there were bullet holes in a number of cars. Investigators knocked on neighbors’ doors asking if they had observed any disturbances.
Lawrence Hobley, Jr. ,a neighbor who witnessed the events was interviewed by CBS Boston.
“I heard pow, pow! Pow, pow, pow, pow! Two different kinds of guns,” said Hobley. “They were firing at each other. I looked out the window and people were running up toward past my building, screaming and hollering.”
It’s uncertain if there were injuries in the shooting at Albion St.
Earlier that week,19-year-old Justin Depina was shot to death not far from the scene. Depina was shot around 5 p.m. last Tuesday at Dudley and Albion streets. He died hours later, according to the Boston Herald.
Ruth Mejia, an employee in a nearby hair salon, said a few people were in the shop when three shots were fired that afternoon. She said in Spanish that she’d never seen anything like it. “People just jumped to the floor for cover,” Mejia said.
Depina’s death is the fifth homicide of the year in Boston.
Police have done no arrests and released no motive for the shootings. They are still continuing the investigation and asked anyone who has information to call (800) 494-TIPS or text message the word TIPS to CRIME (27463).
